The Museum was founded after a donation was made to the RNEBS in memory of Lt James Alston who was lost on the Royal Navy submarine HMS Affray in 1952. His mother left a sum of money to the RNEBS in her will which was used to support the creation of the Marine Engineering Museum at HMS Sultan.
Ships
The Museum houses a number of Ships Models collected over the years from different sources. They include - HMS VICTORIOUS, HMS CATTISTOCK, HMS REPULSE, U67, HMS CRANE, HMS LLANDAFF, HMS LONDON, HMS BLAKE
Figureheads
The museum has two figureheads on display. HMS Columbine was part of the collection of ships figureheads from Chatham. SS Sultan , bought locally by Captain Woodcock when based at HMS Sultan.
